What Are The Common Hair Loss Causes?

Author: Richard Mitchell

One of the most worrying aspects of hair loss treatment is the tendency of so many people to seek solutions without first determining what has caused their loss in the first place.

At best, sufferers may waste money on inappropriate 'wonder cures' or even legitimate treatments that unfortunately are not suitable for their particular needs. At worst, some people may be risking their health by self-prescribing powerful pharmaceutical drugs. I don't have a problem with hair loss sufferers saving money by purchasing cheap generic drugs on the internet, but I feel strongly that they should at least seek confirmation from their physician that a given drug matches their individual needs.

Before examining the most common causes of premature hair loss we need to understand that some shedding of hair is perfectly normal. Hairs grow from follicles that are tiny organs in the skin designed to grow a single hair that follows this repetitive cycle:

1. Lengthy growth period (Anagen Stage) - this phase usually lasts between two and seven years with an average growth rate of six inches (15cm) each year.
2. Short transition period (Catagen Stage) - this period of transition lasts for roughly two to four weeks. During this phase the hair shaft becomes detached and moves upwards within the follicle.
3. Resting period (Telogen Stage) - this phase lasts about three months allowing the hair to detach itself prior to falling out.

At this point a new hair begins to grow thus repeating the normal cycle of hair growth. Unfortunately a number of factors can interfere with the natural hair growth process leading to forms of hair thinning or premature baldness.

Androgenetic alopecia is the most common cause of hair loss, probably accounting for as much as 95% of pattern hair loss for both men and women. It is usually associated with aging and develops in predictable stages over varying periods of time. Each follicle follows a genetically programmed growth cycle with some follicles coded to remain active for a shorter time than others. This results in the development of the hereditary baldness patterns that are so familiar to us all.

For this type of baldness to occur, the following factors must be present:
1. A genetic predisposition for hair loss to occur (as explained above).
2. The presence of male hormones.
3. Aging - in other words, enough time for the first two factors to exert an influence.

All men and women produce male hormones such as testosterone and DHT. These have a useful role to play in both sexes but obviously occur in widely differing concentrations. It is the higher levels of androgens found in males that explains why this form of hair loss affects men more than women.

In brief, these hormones affect the hair growth cycle as follows:
1. High levels of the 5-alpha-reductase enzyme occur in some cells of the hair follicle and sebaceous glands.
2. 5-alpha-reductase converts testosterone into DHT.
3. DHT causes the terminal hairs to miniaturize.
4. This leaves short, soft, fluffy vellus hairs that provide inadequate scalp coverage.
5. The growth phases gradually become shorter until these hairs are lost for good.

Alopecia areata is thought to be an immune system disorder that causes follicles to stop producing hairs in patches on the head. In severe cases it can advance to the stage where all hair on the head is lost (alopecia totalis) or even a complete absence of body hair results (alopecia universalis).  In most cases the hair will reappear on its own but until then, the condition can be very distressing to sufferers particularly as its cause can be difficult to determine. If you feel you may be suffering from this form of hair loss, seek the advice of your physician who will carry out a physical examination and conduct blood tests to help determine the cause.

Telogen effluvium is characterized by a general thinning or shedding of hair over a period of months and is most commonly found in people who have recently experienced trauma. Common causes include childbirth, major surgery, severe illness, psychological stress and chemotherapy. The good news is that the abnormal growth behavior associated with telogen effluvium is temporary and reversible.

There are numerous other less common hair loss causes that need to be discounted before a course of treatment is chosen. Traction alopecia is the loss of hair from constant pulling, usually as the result of hair styling. Broken hairs can result in thinning, often caused by excessive styling or exposure to chemicals and sun. Finally, severe illnesses or nutritional deficiencies can cause side effects that may include degrees of hair loss.

I hope this brief article has gotten across the message that diagnosing the real causes of hair loss is not always a straightforward process. Once you and your physician have identified a cause, then you can work towards restoring your hair to its former glory. And the good news is, most forms of hair loss can be treated successfully. The next article in this series will look at some of the best hair loss treatments currently available.

Olive Oil Facts

Author: Laura Ng

Have you heard people singing praises of olive oil that you're now itching to try it out yourself, whether to improve your health, skin or solely for weight loss? Well, before anything else, I suggest that you learn some hard facts about olive oil (its pros and cons) before you jump on the bandwagon, at least, so that you know what you're feeding your body with and how to make the most out of eating it.

Health Benefits of Olive Oil

Olive oil benefits your health by helping to regulate blood pressure, lower blood cholesterol and blood glucose. It also helps to prevent brain damage and failure of your adrenal glands. You can also consume it in moderation to help you lose weight.

Skin Benefits of Olive Oil

It promotes a smooth, radiant complexion and helps to maintain the elasticity of your skin. Besides that, you can use this liquid gold to heal your dry, brittle nails and soften the cuticles to provide better protection against harmful bacteria. It also helps to condition and add shine to your hair beyond its skin care.

Disadvantages of Olive Oil

Olive oil carries predominantly monounsaturated fatty acid (about 77%). Any unsaturated fatty acid may promote blood clotting, thereby hampering normal blood circulation. However, it's able to counteract blood clotting thanks to its own anti-inflammatory compounds such as hydroxytyrosol, oleocanthal and omega-3.

But I'm not done yet. Again, due to its monounsaturated fatty acid structure, the oil can readily react with free radicals upon heated. And this could change the nutritional and healthful properties of the oil. You can avoid this by eating olive oil in its most natural form without heating, like adding as dressing for cold salad or dipping your bread in it.

Types of Olive Oil

Different types of olive oil provide different nutritional values and hence different health benefits. We have grades of extra-virgin, virgin, pure, refined, olive-pomace oil and lampante oil.

Of these 6 types of olive oil, lampante oil bears the lowest quality (highest acidity level), hence it's not edible. But rather, used as a fuel or other commercial products in the industrial market. Extra-virgin grade or class, on the other hand, holds the highest quality (hence, most expensive) because it is made from cold-pressing. Followed by virgin, pure and refined graded oil.

For health benefits, I suggest that you go with extra-virgin olive oil. You pay more. Virgin grade may offer cheaper alternative but you get less nutritional benefits in return. In short, you get what you pay for.

These olive oil facts serve to provide an overall picture for you. You might want to get into its specifics to find out more on how this liquid gold benefits your health.

Conditioning of the Hair

Author: Stephen Hall

Our hair is a very complex composition. A lot of proteins vitamins and minerals are needed for keeping it healthy and growing. It is not enough to provide the necessary nutrition to the hair through our diet. Our hair needs a lot more of care, and that we should supply from outside.

The most commonly known fact is that proper shampooing is essentially important to keep our hair clean and tidy. But unfortunately it is a fact that we cannot shampoo each day because of various reasons. Besides this another thing should also be kept in mind that by having shampoo each day may also result in dry hair and may also cause hair breakage. The fact is that too much shampoo wipes out the essential oils from our hair making the hair rough and causing hair breakage. In that case it is recommended not to shampoo each day, instead its better to have shampoo every other day. It is helpful in both ways. One that it would keep our hair clean and tidy and on the other the risk of roughing of hair could be less. But that too cannot always do the trick. The essential oils and moisture are still lost by shampooing. In that case it is essential to supply moisture and oil to the hair. Therefore it is recommended that each time you have done shampoo to the hair have some conditioning also.

Now the question may come, what is the necessity of conditioning the hair? To answer this it can be said that to put the shine of the hair and restore its natural luster, proper conditioning of the hair is essentially important. In the most cases conditioners are applied to the freshly shampooed hair that has been dried with a towel to remove excess moisture. Conditioners should never be applied to wet hair or when the hair is totally dry. Leave the conditioner for a few minutes then rinse it off.

We can use different types of conditioners depending on the hair type and the need of treatment that the hair needs. The basic conditioners are used to coat the hair with a fine film making the cuticle temporarily smooth and making the hair glossier and easy to manage. We can also use conditioning sprays for styling purpose and protecting the hair against the harmful effects of heat.

To help the hair retain the natural moisture balance intensive conditioners are used. When the hair is split, dry, frizzy or difficult to manage, this type of conditioners are greatly helpful. For the purpose of intensive and deep nourishing treatment Hot oils are used as conditioners. When the hair is dry, you need to add oil to the hair. The sebum or the natural oil produced by the scalp gets wiped out when the hair is dry. Thus by using this type of conditioners helps a lot to restore the natural oils to the hair. Besides these are the leave-in conditioners. These types of conditioners are designed to help retain moisture, reduce static, and add shine to the hair. These conditioners are evidently good for thin hairs as they avoid conditioner overload, which can cause lankness. They are quite convenient and easy to use and are ideal for daily use. They are applied to the hair after shampooing and are not rinsed off. They provide a protective barrier against the effects of heat styling.

Skin Care Moisturizer Cream Can Keep Your Skin Smooth and Supple

Author: Sylvie Bordeaux

They say beauty is only skin deep, but only a woman knows just how true that is. You can be the prettiest thing in the room, but wrinkled, sun damaged skin can certainly bring your appearance down several notches. Skin care moisturizer cream is just the thing you need to help prevent new wrinkles, reduce the appearance of the wrinkles you have, and help heal sun damaged skin. Whether you struggle with dry skin, combination skin, oily skin, acne, or some other type of skin condition, there is a moisturizer that is made just for you. The only challenge is finding the right moisturizer for you and knowing what to look for. It's all about getting the details right -- what types of moisturizer are best for you and how often to apply them. Luckily for you, we've got the scoop on the best moisturizers for your needs.

Water Based Moisturizers are a No-No

When purchasing moisturizer cream, many women simply do not stop and look at the ingredients. Often women are attracted to a pretty box or a pretty jar with a fancy sounding name without realizing that many of the moisturizers out there contain up to 40% water. Other women make the mistake of going with a water based moisturizer, thinking that water is the most natural moisturizer in the world and that it should do wonders for their skin. Strangely enough, that is not the case. Different all natural ingredients, like Aloe Vera, are better suited for a moisturizer for the face, especially for those looking for anti aging or anti wrinkle benefits. It may not seem like it but water based moisturizers are a recipe for disaster when it comes to dry skin. They dry out your skin even more as opposed to adding much needed moisture.

Consider the Benefits of Natural Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera based creams are different and for those who have only used water based products or for those looking for a change in their present moisturizing routine, this is the best and only alternative. A few of the skin care moisturizer cream products even contain essential fatty acids and other ingredients that actually imitate the natural actions and compositions of your skin. These special ingredients work wonders against drying and breakouts, and makes it easier for the ingredients to be absorbed into the skin. Aloe Vera itself is 100 percent natural, coming straight from the plant of the same name and is known for its healing benefits to damaged skin.

How Often is Too Often?

Depending on your skin and its makeup, you never know how much to moisturize until you figure out what is best for you. If you have normal skin, moisturizing once a day should be sufficient, but if you have dry skin or skin with a condition you may want to consider moisturizing twice daily -- once during the morning hours and once before bed.

Be sure to follow the directions that are specified on the back of moisturizer box or jar for best results and remember that not all moisturizers are created equal. Some of them have specific instructions and are designed to treat different skin conditions so be sure to read the label carefully. Some moisturizers have natural oils, vitamins, lipids, and other ingredients that are designed to smooth and beautify your skin. Be warned that chemicals have been added to other moisturizer creams and these should be strictly avoided.

How do you know which is the best skin care moisturizer cream for you? In all reality, there is no one size fits all.   Everyone has a different type of skin and unfortunately there is a bit of trial and error that you must go through. You have to find out the hard way sometimes but often you can take shortcuts by getting recommendations from other women with skin similar to yours. Remember though that just because a particular product works for someone else does not necessarily mean that it will work for you. One thing you can be sure of though is that it is pretty hard to go wrong with an Aloe Vera based moisturizer. Aloe Vera can heal damaged skin, moisturize, and even provide some anti aging benefits as well. Plus it doesn't dry out the skin like water based moisturizers do...and it should go without saying that dry skin is much more prone to wrinkles than hydrated, moisturized skin.

The benefits of Aloe Vera are endless and no matter what type of skin you have, you should be able to enjoy the benefits of this all natural ingredient that was discovered more than 3,500 years ago and that is still being used today. An Aloe Vera based moisturizer can help give you healthier, more beautiful skin no matter what kind of skin you have and no matter how much sun damage you have.

Be sure to read the label before buying any moisturizer cream and always, always, always demand an Aloe Vera based moisturizer.

Do you hate fine lines?

Do you hate wrinkles?

Do you hate sun spots?

Do you have old acne scars to get rid of?

Do you want to feel beautiful again?

An Aloe Vera based moisturizer cream just may be the way to go and due to its healing properties, Aloe Vera should be something you look for in any skin care moisturizer cream.

Buy Coconut Oil - Things You Need to Know

Author: Laura Ng

When buying coconut oil, you want to make sure you get the best bang for your buck, and more importantly, get the right type to serve your needs.

Which Type of Coconut Oil Best Fits Your Needs

There are basically 4 different types:

1. Hydrogenated

2. Fractionated

3. RBD (refined, bleached and deodorized)

4. Virgin

Unless you're using it as a varnish coating to protect your home furniture or any other things except using it as food or on your skin, never buy hydrogenated coconut oil. Coconut oil undergoing hydrogenation can harm your health and cause irreversible damages. So first thing when you buy coconut oil, pick up the bottle and scrutinize its label and every single word including the fine prints. Make sure it shows no hydrogenation.

People normally buy fractionated coconut oil for skin care or as carrier oil for essential oils for massage. You can eat it too but not advisable. It won't give you as much health benefits as compared to consuming virgin coconut oil because fractionated oil contains almost entirely of both caprylic and capric fatty acids only. The health-promoting lauric acid is removed for other uses.

As for RBD type, people buy it only because they don't want the natural coconut scent emitted from virgin oil to overpower the food they cook, or they simply don't like the smell. RBD bears almost no flavor and odor. But it's almost as nutritious as virgin oil, provided you get the pure RBD oil that never undergoes any hydrogenation.

Here comes the best quality - virgin. This oil is extracted without the use of chemical and high temperature, and retains its full nutritional values in its most natural form. Hence, it gives you the most health benefits of all coconut oil types.

What about extra-virgin coconut oil? Unlike olive oil, coconut oil doesn't come with any official classification. Hence, 'extra-virgin' means exactly the same as 'virgin' in terms of coconut oil.

Price Determines Quality

Virgin type generally costs more than any other coconut oil types due to its full oil-based nutritional values. There are some (in the name of "100% pure coconut oil" or "virgin coconut oil") from India selling at very low prices (few bucks only). This belongs to refined oil (aka cochin oil) which emits a slight smoky smell. When you pour it out onto a transparent container, it shows yellowish or slightly gray in color. Most people in India use it for hair care. I rub it on my skin and it leaves a slight sticky and dirty feel.

Anyway, when you want to eat coconut oil for health benefits, choose only virgin oil. Best, buy organic virgin quality. It costs 10 - 20 times more than that so-called cochin oil, but it's worth the money spent as far as your health is concerned.

Buy Small Quantity of Coconut Oil

My first bottle of virgin oil didn't come in small bottles, so I bought the big bottle. It tasted awful yet expensive. But I didn't want to waste it so I use it on my skin instead of eating while trying out other brands.

So my advice for you is, choose those brands that come with different sizes so that you can choose the smallest bottle for first trial with a new brand. It costs slightly more comparing to buying big bottle, but it gives you peace of mind. Also, in case this is not the type of coconut oil you like, you can still finish it off quickly and try another brand.

Once you locked on to the brand you love, you can start buying coconut oil in gallons for long-term health benefits and usage, so that you don't have to keep replenishing your inventory and save more money in the long run.

These are the 3 key points to take note when you buy coconut oil. Follow them and you'll soon get the one that suits your needs the best, and provide the most health benefits for you.

Prevention Is Better Than Cure - Keep Your Body Healthy And Your Hair Will Automatically Replicate The Feeling

Author: Anthony Delar

Hair Loss Prevention

The problem of hair loss has become a worldwide epidemic. As the body ages, the risk of hair loss becomes greater due to hormonal changes and a substantial decrease in active hair follicles. Although, about 95% of all hair loss can be said to be genetic, other factors like nutrition, overall health, hormone deficiencies, harsh chemical hair treatment and emotional stress also trigger hair loss. But there are effective ways that will help prevent hair loss in both men and women:

Eat a balanced diet containing adequate proteins and iron. Fruits, vegetables and healthy oils also prevent hair loss. Mega-doses of vitamins A and E can cause hair loss.

Keep your body hydrated because dehydration can make the hair look limp.

Exercise regularly as exercise increases blood circulation throughout the body, creates healthy body cells. Hair follicles are made up of cells and exercising keeps hair healthy. Cells reproduce when they are provided with increased energy and this directly affects the hair.

Reduce anxiety and stress through meditation and yoga or through other forms of relaxation techniques. Negative charges in the body have a negative effect on the hair.

Avoid harsh hairstyles like tight pigtails and cornrows. In addition, you must avoid the use of curling iron, hair blowers and hot rollers; these put pressure and stress on the hair as well as the scalp.

Harsh chemicals like permanent hair colour, hair sprays and gels are best kept away from the hair because they have the potential to damage the hair. Colouring and treating the hair also spoils the texture of the hair.

Use gentle shampoos and conditioners and wash the hair regularly with warm water to keep the hair healthy. The lathering ingredient in most commercial shampoos, called surfactant, can irritate the scalp and cause itching which results in damaged hair and thus increased hair loss.

Massage the scalp with essential oils like lavender and rosemary oil in an olive oil base to stimulate blood circulation to the scalp and promote hair growth.

Use herbal extract supplements such as saw palmetto, licorice root or nettle root extracts that block the formation of DHT or the hormone that causes hair loss. These supplements dramatically slow down and also prevent future hair loss naturally.

Keep hair safe from fungal infections by keeping the hair clean at all times. It is also essential that you do not share hats, brushes or hair care products to help prevent fungal infections of the scalp. Preventing hair loss due to fungal infections will require oral medication or special shampoos.

Pattern baldness can be prevented by using certain medications including topical medicines. Replacement surgery is also an option.

Drug or treatment side effect may also enhance hair loss. However, more often than not, once the treatment or medication is stopped, hair loss automatically ceases.

Smoking and alcohol also damage the blood supply to the hair follicles. Studies reveal that alcohol can indirectly influence baldness.

Prevent sun exposure as the UVA and UVB rays from the sun can damage the texture of the hair, making it easier to fall or break. Therefore, it is essential to prevent the hair from direct sunlight and covering the head is a good of achieving this.

Handle your hair with care because it is both delicate and fragile. It is as important to retain the hair strands as it is useful and important to curb its loss when it comes to having healthy hair.

Helping Hand for Hair Loss

Most hair loss is genetic and can therefore not be prevented in any way. However, other factors also influence hair loss and these causes can be prevented from resulting in hair loss. If you take some simple precautions and good care of your hair, you can delay and even prevent hair loss.

Hair can be lost to improper care and damage. If the hair is over-coloured, over-styled, or ill-treated with irons and blow dryers too often, it can result in hair loss. It is advisable to colour your hair once every two months or less. Colouring can damage the hair and you can have healthier hair if you dont colour it. Furthermore, stretching your hair into styles that require pulling and braiding can also damage your hair. Care must be taken to desist from these hairstyles. Moreover, remember that brushing adds body to your hair and however essential it is, it should never strain your hair.

Proper nutrition and rest are both essential for healthy hair. Eating well, drinking plenty of water and getting enough calcium, will works wonders for our hair, keeping it healthy and enhancing its tensile strength. Getting eight hours of sleep is also important. This regulates all our body functions and facilities, keeping it in optimum working condition. Illness can also result in hair loss but when we keep our body healthy we are less likely to fall ill and thus have a better chance against hair loss.

Using a good shampoo and conditioner and keeping the split ends trimmed will also aid hair health. Instead of using hair dryers, it is better to let your hair dry naturally. Retain hair styles that set on their own and do not require a lot of styling on a daily basis, as this can irrevocably harm the hair. In addition, avoid wearing hats that rub on the scalp causing bald patches.

Taking good care of our hair and providing a helping hand to prevent hair loss will reap its own rewards in the long-term. Hair must be treated gently if we want it to stick around throughout our lifetimes.

If you have suffered hair loss and wish to alter that you can use various methods that help with hair restoration and growth. However this is not an overnight process and takes time regardless of the method chosen. Even the most effective hair loss product must be given a time period of at least 3 months before it can show any signs of improvement.

Hair is very much a part of our bodies and abusing the body can directly hamper hair growth and health, leading to most common hair loss. Being physically and mentally healthy can not only prevent but also restore hair loss.

Alternative Medicines and Treatments for Hair Loss

Complementary therapies if natural rarely have any side effects that are otherwise noted with prescription drugs. Two goals must be achieved when dealing with hair loss. They are:

Stop thinning and balding of existing hair
Promote healthy and natural growth of hair

Natural ingredients do work to enhance hair health. Whats more, even if these products are not effective, they will not result in any untoward side effects. These products include:

Jojoba Oil, chemically similar to human sebum, is used as a vital ingredient in cosmetics and personal care products, especially skin care and hair care. When it is massaged into the scalp, it slows down the thinning and balding effect and effectively stimulates new hair growth.

Saw Palmetto, a well-known herbal treatment for hair loss, it has the capacity to slow down hair loss and stimulate new hair growth. In addition, it can block the build-up of DHT, the primary reason behind most hair loss. Working in a similar manner to Finasteride, saw palmetto is a natural yet effective hair loss treatment, without the side effects associated with prescription hair loss treatments.

Stinging Nettle, another well-known natural hair loss remedy, it has been used for ages now as a natural remedy for hair loss. Like Saw Palmetto, this also prevents the testosterone from producing DHT. It works best in combination with saw palmetto and Pygeum, effectively promoting hair growth and stopping further hair loss.

Pygeum, an herbal remedy for hair los, it works to impedes the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase that is responsible for the production of DHT. It prevents the production of DHT from testosterone. When used in combination with saw palmetto and stinging nettle, it stops hair loss in its tracks.

Green Tea has a remarkable ability to inhibit 5-alpha-reductase, which in turn hinders and blocks the production of the hair loss causing hormone, DHT or dihydrotestosterone.

Hair and Haircare For Hairdressing

Author: Billy Lim
For healthy, beautiful hair, emblazon the word protein in your mind. Hair is at least 97% protein, containing 19 of the 22 amino acids that from protein. This should vividly illustrate why hair condition depends so much on the quantity and quality of protein in foods. Hair reflects poor nutrition through breaking, cracking and splitting. Dryness, brittleness, and lack luster hair can be sign of poor protein supply.  Vitamin B is vital to healthy hair growth while Vitamin A gives the hair its shine. Vitamin E helps to make the hair thick and glossy while the mineral Zinc helps the hair grow and strengthens the hair shaft. Silicon is another mineral that forms cross-links with the keratin in the hair and copper helps decide color pigment. Lack of copper leads to gray hair. Unlike skin, hair cannot repair itself, but damaged hair is replaced with new hair.  Treatment is necessary when hair is under attack from over-abrasive hair cosmetics, rough handling, pollution, stress, lack of sleep, perm, blow-drying, and over coloring as the hair loses its natural balance. Areas in the head that have muscles rarely go bald. It is the area without muscles, especially the crown area that goes bald early. Exercise and massaging of this area help to reduce the accumulated tension in the scalp and in reducing hair loss.

Sleek Hair Sedu Style

Author:  Michael Barrows

We've come a long way since our mothers straightened our hair with an iron and ironing board, and it has never been more evident than now. The Sedu hair straightener has revolutionized the way we straighten our hair and has proved that hair Sedu style is hair to be truly envious of.

Hair Sedu style is identified by sleek, straight, shiny and conditioned tresses, the likes of which can only be obtained by using the Sedu ceramic flat iron. This flat iron infuses hair with moisture during every step of the straightening process to ensure that hair Sedu style remains healthy, shiny, strong and vibrant.

The secret of hair Sedu style lies with ionic technology and the materials used to create the Sedu hair straightener. Hair Sedu style is achieved thanks to the high concentration of negative ions, which work to infuse moisture and shine into the inner layers of your hair.

The smooth ceramic plates of the Sedu ceramic flat iron also work like no other ordinary straightening iron to give you hair that is truly Sedu style. Ceramic tile, made from clay and hardened by fire, is a naturally moist and smooth material. When heated, it actually infuses its moisture into any absorbent material that it comes into contact with such as your hair. The results are luxurious, shiny tresses that can only be credited to the Sedu hair straightener.

Not only is hair Sedu style a step above styles created with ordinary flat irons, hair Sedu style also boasts of tresses that are up to three times smoother and silkier than those that can be achieved with other ceramic flat irons. Additionally, the Sedu hair straightener uses ultra-smooth plates which guarantees smooth straightening motions that will not pull or break your hair. This all results in truly healthy and silky hair Sedu style.

Sedu styled hair is also a breeze to achieve and maintain. The Sedu flat iron cuts straightening time in half and heats up to the desired temperature in less than 25 seconds. This means that not only will your hair style be gorgeous, it will also take you a fraction of the time to go from frizz to sleek than it does when using conventional flat irons.

And the consistent heat held by the ceramic plates of the Sedu flat iron means that your hair will be shiny and frizz free throughout. From the roots of your hair to the tips of your tresses, your hair will be beautiful when you achieve hair Sedu style.

Sedu styling is also great for every type of hair imaginable. From fine, limp and damaged hair to coarse, thick ethnic hair, the Sedu hair straightener can be adjusted to suit your particular needs. This is possible because of the flat iron's adjustable thermostat, which allows you to choose a heat setting that is perfect for you to achieve hair Sedu style.

As you can see, there are many beautiful benefits associated with the Sedu styling. What are you waiting for? Why not see what the Sedu hair staightener can do for your look today.

Hair Cuts That Flatter Your Face

Author:  Andy Guides Jr.

When searching for a change in your looks, there is nothing as simple as changing or updating your hairstyle. Hair cuts designed for your facial structure can make all the difference between looking Wow! or Oh no!. There are some fairly common standards to consider for your particular shaped face.

If you have an oval face, it can be the easiest of all types to flatter. A variety of options are at your disposal. Most advise keeping an even length with no layers or high volume. Wispy bangs can be quite flattering for this face. Really, almost any option will look good if you make sure to highlight your best features.

The round face is often problematic for some people, but there are options that can flatter your face. You do not want any cut that will emphasize the fullness of the face. Whether your hair is long or short, layers can help minimize the roundness. Keep the hair off the face and try to emphasize your eyes and cheekbones. Some stylists suggest keeping the hair just below the chin and including tapered ends.

With a square face you might want to consider bangs that are short and straight. Do not cut the hair too short, and consider adding length to the sides and back with layers to add volume to the face. Some of the trendy spiky cuts, or a cut with curls on the ends can be flattering for this face.

A heart shaped face needs the hair below the jaw line. No short cuts or layers are usually advised. Getting side swept bangs can also take the emphasis off the point in the chin.

A long shaped face looks best with bangs all the way to the eyebrows. Curls and side layering without much volume on top will help to shorten the face.

In addition to your facial structure, you should also consider your lifestyle when choosing a cut. Are you most often in formal situations, or is casual the way you normally live? When preparing for a special event like a wedding function or prom, consider trying a formal look. However, even informal styles can work for these occasions. Just make sure it flatters your dress style.

Your stylist can be an excellent resource when deciding on your best style. If however, you do not like any of her suggestions, do not feel obligated to go with her choice. You know what will be most comfortable for you. Consider using an Internet site that allows you to virtually look at various styles. Some have your facial structure and others allow you to download a photograph. This can help you decide if the look is appropriate for you.

Deciding the hair cuts and styles that work best for you is a personal decision. As long as you like the look, it does not matter what the experts say. If you should make a bad choice, it can always be changed when the cut grows out.

No More Bad Hair Days : Tips For Clearing Stubborn Dandruff

Author:  News Canada

(NC)-Dandruff - that dry, itchy, white flaking of the scalp - affects up to 70% of the population in various degrees of severity. It results from skin cells reproducing too rapidly, producing visible flakes. Dandruff is worse in dry climates and when the hair is not washed often. Mild dandruff can be kept under control with shampoos containing zinc pyrithione such as Dan Gard. What happens when these do not work? This means you may have stubborn, more severe dandruff. And if you have yellowish crusting (scales) either on the scalp, face, chest or back, you may have seborrheic dermatitis. In this case, the crusty scales are often oily, accompanied by a red, itchy scalp. Seborrheic dermatitis tends to flare up with stress and with the cold, dry winter months. An effective option for these stubborn cases is shampoos containing tar which have a triple action - they dissolve the scales, are antiseptic (fight bacteria), and soothe itching and redness. Dr. Robert Solomon, a Dermatologist in Toronto at St. Michael's Hospital states: " Tar shampoos are generally safe and effective against severe dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis. A tar shampoo like Polytar AF is highly effective since it is the only combination of tar with salicylic acid, as well as an antifungal and soothing menthol; unlike other tar shampoos, it actually has a nice scent". Here are some general tips to follow:
  • Shampoo at least 3 times a week with a non-medicated shampoo or an anti-dandruff shampoo (depending on severity), massaging scalp gently
  • Three times a week, do the following: use an anti-dandruff shampoo first to clean your scalp, then rinse well. Follow with a trusted medicated shampoo like Polytar; Make sure you leave it in contact with your scalp for at least 5 minutes before rinsing
  • If your scalp condition does not improve within 2 weeks of this regimen, see your physician or pharmacist.

Women's Hair Loss - Finally the Solution To Thinning Hair

Author: Jim Watson

An estimated 40% of women experience noticeable hair loss by the age 40. Women rarely lose their hair due to genetic predisposition. However hair loss in women is reaching new high levels. Women's hair loss can start as early as the late teens to early twenties. Most commonly, women experience an overall thinning of hair rather than a receding hair line like men do. It is normal to lose 50 to 150 hairs in a day; however hair loss in women usually occurs when these hairs start to be replaced by shorter, thinner hairs. This can be hard to notice at first, but over time it can become very apparent. Thinning hair loss in women may be caused by many problems:

Hormonal imbalance and other cyclical shifts.

Hair loss related to pregnancy postmenopausal trauma.

Effects of medications including birth control pills.

Nervous conditions including tension and stress.

Medical treatments such as chemo therapy and thyroid conditions.

Harsh chemicals such as commercial shampoos, perms, hair color, and bleach

Iron, vitamin and mineral imbalance.

Severely poor diet including dehydration.

Poor circulation can cut off the nutrients that blood flow delivers to the scalp.

Good News For Hair Loss Suffers:

Women have a higher success rate than men, because they have less testosterone and fewer, more evenly dispersed receptor sites in the follicles. In as little as 3 months you can start to notice fuller, thicker hair and even new hair growth.

*Regenerx penetrates the hair shaft, restoring the follicle, resulting in thicker hair.

*Regenerx improves circulation by increasing blow flow to the scalp.

*Regenerx also acts as a thickening agent that naturally conditions and will not alter or damage color treated hair.

*Regenerx is all natural safe alternative to Rogaine however without the side effects associated with minoxidil which can include scalp irritation, itchiness and dryness. Also, unlike minoxidil, Regenerx does not contain any alcohol or propylene glycol (PPG) which can really irritate the scalp and alter or damage color treated hair.

Regenerx- Finally...the solution for thinning hair.

Regenerx was developed from clinical research work conducted at Department of Dermatology, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, in Scotland.

Treatment with this aromatherapy formulation in the patients suffering from mild to severe hair loss showed significant improvement compared with the control group. Researchers have concluded that pharmacologically active stimulants for hair growth are present in this formulation of specific essential oils and that these oils can be therapeutic in patients with alopecia and thinning hair. The researchers also point out that the formulation caused no side effects, while steroids and other common agents can cause adverse side effects as described above.

Regenerx contains a unique blend of natural oils like cedarwood, rosemary, and lavender which help stimulate hair growth by increasing blood flow to the scalp. More blood flow allows more of the important nutrients and vitamins to reach the scalp. Increased blood circulation can help awaken previously dormant follicles and promote new hair growth.

Regenerx formulation also includes jojoba, grapeseed, thyme, and rosemary oils to help condition and revitalize the scalp. These ingredients contain antioxidants like vitamins E and C which neutralize free-radicals that can damage cells of the scalp. Natural oils like these moisturize and soften dry, damaged scalp to help restore hair follicles and promote healthy hair growth. Jojoba and grapeseed oils are also very effective carrier oils. Carrier oils promote the absorption of other oils into the skin to further increase their effectiveness.

Hair follicles can sometimes become clogged with build-ups of sebum that inhibit hair growth. It's important to clean out this build-up to make way for new hair growth. Lavender, thyme, and jojoba are natural oils that can clear out sebum to make way for new hair growth. In some cases bacteria can inhibit hair growth. These oils also have antiseptic properties that can destroy harmful bacteria and soothe the scalp to create a better environment for hair growth.

Women experiencing hormonal changes often find that their hair starts to thin and becomes brittle. Years of harsh treatment combined with blow-drying and exposure to the sun may irreparably damage hair and decrease volume. Regenerx is a natural way to bring back fuller hair by stimulating hair growth as well as volumizing existing hair using natural essential oils. Whether you are experiencing advanced women's hair loss, noticing a slight thinning of your hair, or want to prevent hair loss altogether. Regenerx provides a unique and effective treatment for women's hair loss that can have you seeing noticeable results just in three months. You don't have to suffer from the effects of hair loss. Finally there is a solution for thinning hair.
