Today I will tell you about an alternative way to treat hair loss.

There are many different products on the market that should do the job but yet there are so many other natural ways that do the same. Who wants to use chemicals while you can make your own remedy safely at home. Some might work for you and some might not but that is up to you to try it and decide.

So hair loss what is it really and why do we suffer from it?!

Hair loss, also known as baldness refers to excessive hair loss from scalp and can be the result of heredity, certain medications or an underlying medical condition.

It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some.

However, some people may experience excessive hair loss which might cause baldness. Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children.

So now that we know what it is, we need to know how to deal with it. For that I added a few natural remedies you can try:

1. Yemeni med: Soak fenugreek (Hilba) in deep pot of water throughout the night. Massage the liquid into the scalp and wrap with a cloth for 3 hours. Repeat everyday for 1 month.

2. Massage the scalp with uncooked egg yolk, leave for 1 hour and wash.

3. Smear Red Henna on the scalp and wait for 1 hour, then wash, Repeat for 10-14 days. Be ware- your hair will turn red from the henna!

4. Smear castor oil on the scalp and the hair roots but not on the hair, wrap the hair with a newspaper, tie with a cloth and leave overnight, wash in the morning. Repeat every 7-10 days (results will come after 6-7 treatments).

5. Boil 1 cup of water, add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds, cook for 5 minutes, cool and drink.

6. Blanch scented geranium leaves in boiling water, strain, cool and use to wash the hair.

7. Rub olive oil into the scalp to reduce hair loss.

8. Boil rosemary leaves in water, strain and save the liquid in a glass bottle. Use to wash the hair every day. You can also put the rosemary water in a sprayer and spray the hair every morning.

Why is coconut oil the best oil for your skin?

Coconut oil is good as a skin moisturiser. A study shows that extra virgin coconut oil is as useful and safe as mineral oil when used as a moisturiser, with absence of adverse reactions.

The biggest chemical barrier to infectious organisms is the acid layer on the skin. Healthy skin has a pH of about 5, making it slightly acidic. Our sweat (containing uric and lactic acids) and body oils promote this acidic environment. For this reason, sweat and oil do us good. Harmless bacteria can tolerate the acid and live on the skin, but troublesome bacteria can't thrive and their numbers are few.

Coconut oil will absorb easily, keep the skin soft, and yet without feeling greasy.

Most commercial creams and lotions are commonly water. Their moisture is quickly absorbed into dry, wrinkled skin. As the water enters the skin, it expands the tissues, like filling a balloon with water, so that wrinkles fade away and the skin feels smoother. But this is not permanent. As soon as the water evaporates or is carried away by the blood stream, the dry, wrinkled skin returns. No matter how hard you try people will never be able to permanently cure dry, wrinkled skin with any commercial body lotion or body care merchandise. In addition to water, most lotions have an oil of some type. This oil is almost always a highly refined vegetable oil deficient of all natural protective antioxidants. One product in our food supply and in body care merchandise that leads to a great deal of free radicals is oxidized vegetable oils.

Cocout Oil is not like other oils used to soften rough, dry skin. It will help to reduce chronic skin inflammation within days and be soothing and healing to wounds, blood blisters, rashes, etc.

Our skin is made up of connective tissues. These tissues give our skin strength and elasticity. When we are young and healthy the skin is smooth, elastic and supple. This is the effect of tough connective fibers. As we age their fibers are continually subjected to free-radical attack which breaks them down. As a result, connective tissues become hardened and lose both elasticity and strength. The skin loses its capacity to hold itself together and begins to sag and become wrinkled. Once young, soft and smooth the skin turns dry and leathery.

Antiseptic fatty acids in coconut oil help to prevent fungal and bacterial infections in the skin when it is consumed and to some extent, when it is applied directly to the skin. The only way to gain entry into the body other than through the natural openings, such as the nose and mouth, is by penetrating the skin. When the skin's defenses break down, infections can result. Acne, ringworm, herpes, boils, athlete's foot, and warts are just some of the infectious conditions that can affect the skin and body.

Once a free-radical reaction is started it can cause a chain reaction which produces more free radicals, which ultimately damages thousands of molecules. The only way our body has to fight them is with antioxidants. When a free radical comes into contact with an antioxidant, the chain reaction is stopped. For this reason, it is good to have plenty of antioxidants in our cells and tissues to protect us. The number of antioxidants we have in our tissues is determined to a large extent by the nutrients in our diet. Having anti-oxidants in skin care products is important, too. Dr. Ray Peat, a biochemist who has written about the antioxidant properties of coconut oil, states "It is well established that dietary coconut oil reduces our need for vitamin E, but I think its antioxidant role is more general than that, and that it has both direct and indirect antioxidant activities." Virgin Coconut Oil is especially useful in fighting free-radicals, as it is unrefined and hasn't been extracted of any of its natural components through the refining process.

Conventional body care goods that are made with refined vegetable oils which have all the antioxidants removed from them are highly prone to free-radical generation both in and outside the body. That is why eating processed vegetable oils can cause a deficiency in vitamin E and other antioxidants. The antioxidants are used up fighting off free radicals causing permanent damage to connective tissues. This is also the reason why you should be careful about the type of oils you use on your skin, and in your lotions, creams and lip balms. If you use a lotion, or cream with a refined oil in it you are in fact causing your skin to age faster. The lotion, though it may bring temporary improvement will actually accelerate the aging of the skin and even develop skin cancer through the free radicals that are readily formed from the refined vegetable oil..

The ideal lotion is one that is made from an oil that not only softens the skin, but protects it against damage, promotes healing and gives it a more youthful, healthy appearance. Coconut oil fits that description.

Quality virgin coconut oil is the best natural ingredient for skin lotion available. It prevents destructive free-radical formation and provides protection against them. It helps to keep connective tissues strong and supple so that the skin doesn't sag and wrinkle. In some cases it might even restore damaged or diseased skin. The oil is absorbed into the skin and into the cell structure of the connective tissues, limiting the damage excessive sun exposure can cause.

Our skin is home to many tiny organisms, most of which are harmless; some are beneficial. At least one variety of bacterium is essential to the healthy environment on our skin. It feeds on the sebum, breaking down the tryglycerides into free fatty acids. The bacteria actually feed on the glycerol part of the triglyceride. This leaves fatty acids which are now "freed" from the glycerol unit that held them together. Medium chain fatty acids which are bound to the glycerol unit as they are in coconut oil have no antimicrobial properties. However, when they are broken apart into free fatty acids, they become powerful antimicrobials.

So these bacteria convert the medium chain triglycerides (in the sebum or on the skin) into free fatty acids that can kill disease-causing bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The combination of the slightly acid pH and medium chain fatty acids offers a protective chemical layer on the skin that prevents infection from disease-causing organisms. Due primarily to the action of bacteria, the oil on the surface of your skin and hair is composed of between 40 and 60 percent free fatty acids. The medium chain fatty acids in the sebum provide the protective layer on the skin that kills harmful germs. Coconut oil is nature's richest source of medium chain fatty acids.

When coconut oil is put on the skin it doesn't have any immediate antimicrobial action. However, when bacteria which are always present on the skin turn these triglycerides into free fatty acids, just as it does with sebum, the result is an increase in the number of antimicrobial fatty acids on the skin and protection from infection. The free fatty acids also help to contribute to the acid environment on the skin which repels disease causing germs.

Coconut Oil is an great ingredient to use in healing salves and ointments. People have used a coconut oil/crushed garlic mixture at night to eliminate plantar warts and athlete's foot with excellent results.

Lack of Iodine and Silica Can Create Hair Loss

Iodine is vital to your hair growth. Sheep farmers long ago found that vegetation-lacking iodine due to iodine-depleted soil would adversely affect the growth of wool in their sheep. Likewise, to avoid hair loss, you need iodine. Iodine is synthetically added to table salt, however in this form it is not assimilated well into your body and can therefore cause iodine overload.

An excess of iodine in the body can adversely affect the thyroid. The lack of iodine can cause hypothyroidism. In hypothyroidism, your cell metabolism slows down and body cells and hair cells don't receive the energy they need to function properly. When you lack iodine, you will lose more hair than normal and may even lose eyebrow hair. You can check your thyroid with a basal thermometer, not a digital thermometer, by placing it in your underarm first thing when you wake up. Then, don't move for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, look at the temperature. The normal body temperature for good thyroid function is 97.8 to 98.2 degrees C. Take this measurement for 5-10 day. If your temperature is below 97.6 and lower, for the 5-10 days, you will want to consult your doctor or for more direction and information. You definitely have low thyroid function.  Menstruating women should start this 5-10 day check on the 3rd day of their cycle. It is best to use non-iodized salt and get your iodine from natural foods. These include seaweed, salmon, seafood, lima beans, molasses, eggs, potatoes with the skin on, watercress and garlic.  Silica One of the most difficult nutrients vital to your hair growth to get in your diet is trace mineral silica. Silica is a form of silicon and is the second most abundant element in the earth's crust, second only to oxygen. The Earth provides everything we need for health, and with silicon being so abundant, it would seem that there would never be a problem with silica deficiency.  Unfortunately, trace minerals are rare in our diets because our food is processed and our soil depleted by chemical treatments. Silica provides strength to your hair, and although it will not necessarily stop your hair from falling out from the follicle, it will stop hair breakage.  Silica works by stimulating your cell metabolism and formation, which slows the aging process. Foods that are rich in silica are rice, oats, lettuce, parsnips, asparagus, onion, strawberry, cabbage, cucumber, leek, sunflower seeds, celery, rhubarb, cauliflower, and swiss chard. Try to buy these vegetables from organic sources. Note that many of these foods, particularly rice, are a large part of Asian diets and Asians tend to have the strongest and healthiest hair.  For best results eat all your fruits and vegetables raw. For certain vegetables that need to be cooked, steam them for only a few minutes.  Be sure to test your thyroid even though doctor's tests show you do not have a thyroid problem. The basal temperature test is sometimes more sensitive than blood tests taken by doctors. If you have hyperthyroidism, you will definitely have hair loss.

Properties - Antidepressant, aphrodisiac, liver tonic, menstrual regulator, rejuvenator and a sedative.

Also used to balance diabetes. Ylang Ylang is reported to be beneficial in firming the breasts. It is renowned for its aphrodisiac and antidepressant qualities, and as such is used for impotence and frigidity. It provides an antiseptic action to the intestines to aid in infection and diarrhoea. Ylang Ylang balances sebum production and therefore finds application for both oily and dry skin. It was used by the native population of Comoros to stimulate the scalp promoting a more luxurious hair growth. It is also used for acne, insect bites and as a fragrance.

5 Steps To Perfect Hair

Your hair is your crowning glory. Look after it and it will shine for all the world to see. You don't always need expensive treatments, or visits to a hair salon to manage your hair professionally. There's so much you can do yourself.

1. For shiny, healthy hair think first of your body's intake. Your hair is really just a reflection of what you are inside. A good balanced, nutritious and healthy diet will do more to make your hair shine than any shampoo or conditioner. And drink eight to ten glasses of water a day too; hair is 25% water, so don't let yours go thirsty!  2. Dry your hair after washing in the ambient temperature of your room after using an absorbent towel to soak up the excess moisture, but don't rub hard. If possible, don't use blow-drying, flat irons, curling irons or hot rollers. Artificial heating will leave your hair brittle and damaged in time. Be natural whenever you can.  3. Prevent unnecessary hair damage by using the right kind of hairbrush. Only comb wet hair with a wide-tooth comb, combing from end to root, but avoiding touching the root. Detangling wet hair with a hard steel comb can create a lot of damage, so don't!  4. Remove trichoptlosis, or split ends, like this: take small sections of your hair and carefully twist them in a gentle downward motion. The split ends will stick out. Using sharp scissors, carefully cut into the twisted section, but not right through, to remove the damaged cuticles and leave a natural layered look. Cut roughly the same amount from each twist to balance the effect.  5. Hair loss can be slowed, or even reversed by applying a few simple tips, though they probably won't cure an underlying condition. Biotin can help to regenerate hair follicles: blend bananas with honey, yoghurt and low-fat milk, and drink it daily. Supplements such as Vitamin B6, zinc and saw palmetto will help too, but eliminating stress and getting plenty of sleep may work just as well.  We are all obsessed with our hair, whether we are 9 or 90, male or female. Look after yourself first and foremost and your hair will reflect that care and attention. The Biblical Samson's strength lay in his fine flowing hair. Your hair reflects your strength too.

Is There A Wrong Way To Wash Your Hair?

It's not as simple as it sounds. There is a difference!

When washing your hair, it is best if you get in the shower. You may give yourself a back-ache and won't be able to rinse properly if you wash your hair in the sink. Start by rinsing your hair to remove any leave-in conditioner or styling aids. Use a quarter sized dollop of shampoo and rub your hands together to distribute it. Put the shampoo on your scalp, not the ends of your hair. Work up a lather by massaging your scalp with your fingers and scalp brush. Don't mix your hair all over your head; the more you do, the more tangled it will become.  You may notice that during the first shampoo, you won't have much lather. That is because your hair is still dirty! Rinse well and then repeat, but this time, let the shampoo sit for a minute (especially if you are using a protein shampoo). Rinse, then press the water out of your hair. Never squeeze or pull your hair when it's wet. Instead, smooth your hands down from the top of your head down to remove excess water, and important step before adding any conditioner.  Hot or Cold Water?  Honestly, it doesn't matter because the effects are barely noticeable. However, experts say to wash hair in hot or warm water to help remove dirt and build-up and to rinse hair in cool water to close the cuticle and add shine.  Deep Conditioning Conditioners penetrate better on towel dried hair so remove excess water first. Be gentle! To protect your hair, smooth your hands down your head from the top of your head down to remove excess water. As your hair grows longer, gather your hair at the base of your neck with one hand, and once anchored, use the other hand to gently press the water out of the ends of your hair. Then, use a generous amount (half-dollar size dollop or more for longer hair) to make sure your hair is completely covered.

Concentrate on your hairline, nape and the ends of your hair, where it's needed most. Massage well, but DO NOT COMB THROUGH; it's too damaging to your hair. Snap on a plastic cap and sit under a warm dryer for 10 minutes. Rinse well and follow with an instant conditioner.

Androgenetic alopecia, male pattern baldness (MPB) is genetic. Either from father's side or from mother's side this particular gene pass down. Even today people think that baldness or grey hair cannot be cured. This is true but you can surely take some preventive measures before you genetic code and heredity causes complete baldness. Now several kinds of technology and methods are inventing for duplicate hair or hair transplantation. Here we will discuss what the preventive measures are.

Use any chemical product only after consulting with your hair expert. But, do not use anything excessively. Always clean your hair after using the particular product. Coloring, straightening, ironing do not harm your hair if you use these properly and maintain a regimen and after care.

Always be careful about the hair styling gels and creams. These creams and gels choke the pores of your scalp. And, the free growth of hair can be prevented by this.

Any styling products containing alcohol can make your hair dry rapidly. So, avoid this type of products.

Always use a cap before exposing your hair in bright sunlight and heat. Chlorinated water is also a big no for colored hair. If you have just colored your hair then do not expose your hair to the water of swimming pool or sea before 48 hours. Always use a cap before swimming because it affects your hair texture.

Consume a protein rich diet with milk, milk products and pulses. A healthy diet varies individually and it is complex. But always place protein at the top of your diet chart because protein helps you to make your hair grow and the roots to be strong from inside. But protein intake does not mean buying some protein tablets and eating them. Over-the-counter medicines are chemically processed and are not completely absorbed. So, it is advisable that you should take the protein requirements from a good diet preferring raw fruits and green vegetables.

Now a day young generations want to avoid oil on their hair and scalp. But oil massage and hot oil treatment is very helpful for a good healthy hair.

Too much use of shampoo basically strong chemical shampoos are very much harmful for your hair. Follow some ayurvedic means and natural courses for washing your hair. Apply shampoo every alternate day or thrice in ten days.

Going to bed with your hair tightly tied or braided is not good for hair. It weakens the hair roots. You sleeping style, friction between your hair and pillow cover, rubbing can damage your hair and cause a hair loss when you will comb your hair next morning. Completely open hair also is not recommended. Try to use satin pillow covers for less friction.

Drink at least six glasses of water daily. Water makes the blood circulations normal and it helps the hair capillaries and follicles stay fit.

Iron deficiency is also a reason for balding. Make a diet that includes more and more green vegetables and leaves for sufficient iron supply. Green vegetables are full of iron and minerals. Thin hair and weak hair is the sign of iron deficiency.

I am going to tell you right now not to get caught up in the latest fad called aromatherapy skin care, because these formulas that companies are providing are not as effective as they are claimed to be. I always stress to people about the importance of using cosmetics that are 100 percent all natural for both safety and effectiveness. These products must contain specific ingredients in order to be effective.

Essential oils are claimed to prevent many of the signs of aging, and they do actually contribute to reversing one of the causes of wrinkle development. Since the ingredients in these formulas are derived from plants, you can expect them to provide the skin with at least some antioxidants. These antioxidants are essential for eliminating free radicals from the skin, and reversing wrinkle producing oxidation.

Other than that you shouldn't expect to receive a lot of benefit from the essential oils that make up aromatherapy skin care anti aging formulas. The truth is that natural oils are the most effective moisturizing compounds available, because plant based oils are known to contain properties that make them remarkably similar to the sebum that your sebaceous glands produce.

What are known as essential oils however are not truly the oil from various plants, buy a concentrated hydrophobic liquid containing volatile aroma compounds. In order to remove oil from a plant, the plant needs to undergo a method of extraction that is known as cold-pressing. The method of extracting hydrophobic liquid from a plant is distillation, which produces a finished product that is mostly water.

What you have in aromatherapy skin care formulas is basically scented water, which provides very little benefit to the skin. In alternative medicine it is believed that the scents produced by certain compounds positively alter one's mood, cognitive function, and health. There has been very little scientifically proven about the health effects of aromatherapy, but there is some evidence that at least some oils may have therapeutic potential.

The therapeutic potential of the ethereal oils in these products is not going to help you firm and thicken your skin by increasing the production of collagen and elastin. It will also not prevent the decomposition of your tissues and polymer by the collagenase, elastase, and hyaluronidase enzymes that seek to quickly break these substances down. You need ingredients that will address these specific issues.

Aromatherapy and Essential Oils at a Glance

The word "Aromatherapy" comes from two words: "Aroma" meaning fragrance and "Therapy" meaning treatment. Aromatherapy is a form of alternative medicine that uses volatile liquid plant materials known as essential oils or organic oils and other scented compounds from plants for the purpose of affecting a person's mood or health. It is a healing art based in nature and it affects the whole person-mind, body and spirit. Complete or holistic healing is ever-increasingly utilized today in every modern society. Aromatherapy is a fast growing therapy in holistic medicine. As far back as 18,000 B.C., flowers, plants, and their essences were used for healing, relaxation and energizing. Aromatherapy was used by the most ancient civilizations: Egypt, China and India, and is reputed to be at least 6000 years old.

Aromatherapy is an art as well as science of using aromatic substances usually essential oils to cure common ailments. It is also popular as a stress reliever.

Pure essential oils have an immediate impact on our sense of smell. When essential oils are inhaled, olfactory receptor cells are stimulated and the impulse is transmitted to the emotional center of the brain, i.e. limbic system. These oils are also called fragrance oils or perfume oils. The limbic system is connected to areas of the brain linked to memory, breathing and blood circulation as well as the endocrine glands which regulate hormone levels in the body. The properties of the oil, the fragrance and its effects determine stimulation of these systems. When used in massage, essential oils are not only inhaled, but absorbed through the skin as well. They penetrate the tissues and find their way into the bloodstream where they are transported to the organs and systems of the body.

Essential oils have differing rates of absorption, generally between 20 minutes and 2 hours, so it is probably best not to bathe or shower directly following a massage to ensure maximum effectiveness.

People with certain chronic illnesses or conditions should not use aromatherapy without first consulting a doctor. These illnesses and conditions include:

-Lung conditions such as asthma, respiratory allergies or chronic lung disease. Aromatic Oils may cause airway spasms.

-Skin allergies. Some oils may cause skin irritation, especially in the membranes of the eyes, nose and mouth.

-Pregnancy. Pregnant women should not use aromatherapy. Some Natural Herbal oils (such as juniper, rosemary and sage) may cause uterine contractions.

An essential oil is a liquid that is generally distilled (most frequently by steam or water) from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots or other elements of a plant. Essential oils, contrary to the use of the word "oil" are not really oily-feeling at all. Most essential oils are clear but some oils such as patchouli, orange and lemongrass are amber or yellow in color. These extracted oils contain the true essence of the plant it was derived from. Essential oils are highly concentrated in nature.

Like essential oils, absolute oils or Plant Extract Oils are highly aromatic liquids extracted from plants. Absolutes, however, are extracted in a complex manner that requires the use of chemical solvents that are later removed during the final stages of production. Sometimes, the hot steam or water used to distill an essential oil does not extract much natural oil from the plant or harms the precious natural oil. The solvent extraction methods are often used in these cases.

As a rule, absolute oils are more concentrated than their essential oil cousins. A very trace amount of solvent can remain in the final absolute. This indeed is a disadvantage to using absolutes as aromatherapy focuses on the use of pure and herbal plant extract matter. Although the amount of remaining solvent is minimal, absolutes are used in true aromatherapy with care, respect and knowledge. Essential oils should never be taken internally by anyone who is not trained, educated and experienced at doing so. Absolutes should never be taken internally by anyone because of that small amount of trace solvent that may remain.

Carrier oils also referred to as base oils or vegetable oils are used to dilute essential oils, CO2s and absolutes before applying to the skin. They carry the essential oil onto the skin. Different carrier oils offer different properties and the choice of carrier oil can depend on the therapeutic benefit being sought. These are generally cold-pressed vegetable oils derived from the fatty portions of the plant. Unlike essential oils that evaporate and have a concentrated aroma, carrier oils do not evaporate or impart their aroma as strongly as essential oils. Examples of carrier oils are sweet almond, apricot kernel, grape seed, avocado, peanut, olive, pecan, macadamia nut, sesame, evening primrose, walnut and wheat germ.

Essential oils do not go rancid. Carrier oils, however, can go rancid. Carrier oils that you purchase should be natural and unadulterated. Exceptions include buying carrier oils that have natural vitamin E added. Vitamin E acts as a natural preservative.

The world over, aromatherapy is becoming big business in beauty and health spas, fragrance and cosmetic industries. Some use pure essential oils; others sneak in the cheaper, synthetic copies but only pure essential oils can produce genuine results.
